A micro-camper is a compact, easy to drive car that has been converted to provide an easy-to-use camping solution for 2 people. It comes with a tent on the roof, a mattress, pillows, blankets, a sleeping bag and sarongs, and two yoga matts as well as space for your luggage.
We have removed the rear seats from the car making it a 2-seater and installed a compartment that holds a portable camping stove, cutlery, crockery, games, tea and coffee and optional WIFI. We have included 2 serves of instant noodles, coffee and tea and there are chairs and a small table.
Click through the booking buttons on our site, include your ID documents and please note an international driver’s license is a necessity for driving in Indonesia. There is a link on our site that connects you to an online international application if needed.
Once you’ve completed the online booking process we will send you confirmation via email. That will include local contact details to coordinate delivery with as well as ongoing support as needed.
This car is not for off road usage. Soft trails and gravel can be negotiated in some areas, but caution and common sense are needed. We have suggested destinations that are easily accessible with our car and appropriate for its use. Camping in Bali is not regulated so you can also find public rest areas to use if you need as a last resort. Many people in rural areas will be more than happy to accommodate with direct private negotiation.
Bali and Indonesia are amazing places to visit, the breadth and spread of experiences to be had is pretty much infinite. We however are a small company and do not yet have a similar level of information and support available throughout the archipelago. We kindly ask our guests to stay on the Balinese mainland for now, with the sole exception of Nusa Penida which we highly recommend. A car ferry is available from Padang Bai.
Bali is a small Island but driving times can vary wildly due to traffic and road conditions. What looks small on the map may take much longer than anticipated.
Information provided is as accurate as we can make it at the time of publishing online and can change quickly.
Camping is still a growing trend and our aim is to help Bali develop sites that are clean, well maintained, ecologically minded and sustainably run.
We do not charge anyone for a recommendation.

Driving the Suzuki is simple, it’s a right-hand drive automatic 998cc engine. It has automatic or manual settings if desired. The air-conditioning is good, and the sound system is good enough. We provide WIFI (for a nominal cost) and a Bluetooth speaker for your trip so Spotify or SoundCloud can be used without ruining your personal data allowance. There is also a separate 600-watt battery that is ac/dc to recharge all devices. There are fairy lights and hanging lamps in the electrical drawer.
There is water storage on the side of the car that provides enough water for cleaning crockery or utensils as needed. It is not safe to drink and is easy to get a free refill from gas stations hose when needed.
We have included a large bottle to drink from; please replace it when it’s finished.
Included are trash and laundry bags to make life easier and we encourage you to minimise waste, use of plastic and to help everyone make Bali greener. Feel free to return the rubbish to us if you are uncertain- we have programs in place to manage it.
All our camper vans are automatic and easy to drive.
We do not include any pet equipment and do not want them in the tent. Having said that at your own risk and equipment we love animals.
Yes — a free local driving orientation is provided at pickup on request and advance notice.
Yes, but expect scooters, ceremonies, and narrow roads. Drive slowly and respectfully, especially in villages and near temples.
Roads in Bali can be smaller than in many countries. There are lots of scooters and pedestrians and there is a general approach of trust to managing traffic that can be a shock to first time drivers in this part of the world. The formal rules are like most countries, but the default is to go slowly and give way to everyone.
The rules come second to commonly expected behaviour so understanding behaviour is more important than following the lines. People will expect you to understand, slow down and even brake if needed rather than recognize your right to be first.
This means making eye contact with other drivers, keep smiling and remember you’re on a holiday, not racing. Speed limits here are very low, traffic generally goes under 60kmh per hour so if you’re observant and respectful you will be fine. We are here to help you if you would like some help to feel more confident before setting off, just let us know in advance.
Each local area is managed by community officers called ‘Pecalang’ who are there to manage traffic around ceremonies and other community events. Please respect their instructions and be patient as occasionally you will be required to sit behind a ceremony for a small period. It may be a funeral or other forms of traditional activity so honking or impatience is not welcome. The congestion will clear as soon as possible; remember everyone is in the same boat. They are generally readily recognizable with branded t-shirts and whistles and or illuminated traffic wands.
Please use pertamax only.
Approximately 350–450 km depending on terrain and driving style.
No. Drive as far as you want — there are no mileage caps.
Yes — with common sense:
- Look for flat, safe ground
- Avoid temple grounds, driveways, or private land
- Beachside, jungle clearings, and quiet village roads are usually fine
We’ve curated a digital map of our favourite beach, jungle, and mountain spots. It’s regularly updated and sent after booking.
